Funders will each give a 10 minute presentation, followed by a time for questions.

10:00 am – 3:30 pm “Show me the Research”
Researchers will speak about their research and provide a tour of their institution’s research facility.
10:00 am Tour 1: University of Manitoba
The digital agriculture team from the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences will kick off the tour at the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba Discovery and Learning Complex where you will get a view into a modern dairy barn featuring robotic milking and feeding systems. Researchers will demonstrate remote sensing applications via a multispectral drone and soil moisture sensors, and indoor GPS technology that tracks dairy cattle movement.

12:30 pm Tour 2: Red River College Polytech
The research team at the Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing will lead the group on a tour of the Smart Factory, an experiential learning and applied research space with capabilities in metal and polymer additive manufacturing (3D printing), robotics and automation, 3D digital non-destructive inspection technologies, mechanical and electronics design and simulation, data acquisition, and many more.

2:30 pm Tour 3 – Canadian Mennonite University
Business professor and social entrepreneur James Magnus-Johnston will lead us as we cap off our tour with a visit to CMU’s Centre for Resilience. The Centre is both workplace and think-tank for resident entrepreneurs working towards environmental and social resilience. And at the Centre, through the Social Innovation Lab, entrepreneurs pose problems that CMU students engage.
3:30 pm travel back to UofM SP1 parking lot
Transportation via bus will be arranged for participants.
